Tools (4)
Get quote
Get a current-quote snapshot for one ticker symbol: last price, previous close, the day's open/high/low, the 52-week range, moving averages, market cap, and the absolute and percent change on the day. Works for stocks, ETFs, indexes (e.g. ^GSPC), currencies, and crypto (e.g. BTC-USD). If you only have a company name, call search_tickers first to resolve the symbol.
Get historical prices
Get historical OHLCV price bars for a ticker over a window. `period` is the lookback window and `interval` is the bar size. Use this for charts, returns over a span, volatility, or highs/lows across time. Bars come back oldest first; long pulls are capped to the most recent ~400 bars.
Search tickers
Resolve a company or fund name, or a partial symbol, into candidate ticker symbols. Returns each match's symbol, full name, exchange, and instrument type. Use this first when the user names a company but not its symbol, then pass the symbol to get_quote or get_historical_prices.
Get company profile
Get descriptive profile data for a ticker: company/fund name, sector, industry, country, website, employee count, exchange, market cap, and a business summary. Use this for 'what does this company do' questions, not for price data (use get_quote for that).
